Okay… I’m going to drop a truth-bomb or two in here, so #sorrynotsorry for the upcoming post, but it’s that time of year … just before our nice theoretically relaxing summer, when we’re supposed to be doing our spring cleaning. Out with the old, in with the new, war on the dust bunnies, and all that jazz.
And since it’s also Pride month, I figure this is an important thing to remember, anyway.
Sometimes, people just suck, and there’s nothing that you can do about it. Sometimes, they come into your life like this whirlwind of awesomeness and excitement, and you think, “Hey, this is great!” and you go along for the ride for a little bit. And then you realize that your seatbelt is broken, and the loopty-loops are making you nauseous, and there’s no dude in skin-tight spandex and a flowy cape to save you. That’s when you have to save yourself. Recognize that some people just suck, and some people aren’t as capable of change as others, and take a deep breath and sweep that shit right out the door.
Why? Because you don’t deserve that level of discord in your life. Because you aren’t responsible for other people or their messes unless they call you ‘Mama’, and even then, the jury’s out. Because you deserve peace. Because you deserve better. Because denial will get you nothing but more of the exact same thing. Because the definition of insanity is repeating the same action over and over again and expecting to generate different results.
Don’t do that to yourself. If you’ve got someone in your life who is tearing you down instead of lifting you up? Bye, Felicia. Someone who would rather judge you for who you are than love you for who you are? May the door of karma hit them in the ass on the way out of your life. You deserve to be happy, and sometimes, cleaning out the toxic sludge in your life has nothing to do with finding a pizza box under the bed or an unlabeled tupperware container in the back of your fridge.
I’m just sayin’.
