Y’all, the Universe did not want me to get this photo out… all of which looked like fire on my screen and the dumpster variety of fire when I opened them up in Photoshop to have a better look. There was at lease one thing in every single one of the photos I took that hadn’t rezzed properly – and to add insult to injury, some of it was in the background, some of it was in the foreground, and all around, it was a whole mess when all I really wanted was a photo of my pretty new dress.
But this is par for the course for Second Life isn’t it? Loading issues, lag… We deal with them every day. I’d like to make a Fight Club reference and say something funny and interesting about how we all simply don’t talk about it and pretend it’s not a thing, but we’re not that cool. We have zero chill when it comes to our laggy regions and our lovely clothing not coming in properly. But we aren’t alone.
…I haven’t logged into Valheim for two days. Why? Well, because a lag spike hit me in the middle of the ocean, and when I came out of the lag spike, I was no longer in my long ship, I was going for a swim. A swim I didn’t intend to go on. With a sea serpent. You can see where this is going, right? The point is, things aren’t always going to go as we expected, especially in the world of gaming and relying on our internet connections at the same time… And sometimes, the best thing we can do is take a deep breath, smell the dang flowers for a minute, and make it work the best way we know how.
And the thing is… that works for everything else, too. In and out of the gaming world. Not always at the same pace, or with the same results, but still… that’s something, isn’t it?
