175. Pro-tip: Watch that first step – it’s a helluva fall.

It’s been a long week. Sometimes, life comes along and takes a baseball bat to your kneecaps, and all you can really do is hope the resulting fall isn’t anymore damaging than the initial unexpected whack you received in the first place. A large portion of adulting whether we’re dealing with Second Life or real life is putting ourselves out there for the world to see and hoping that we don’t fall on our faces in the most epic way possible. Some of us are avoiders, though. We avoid the potential for falling – for failure – by simply ignoring everything. We close ourselves off because, hey, if we do that, we can’t end up hurt, right? That was me. I was that person.

But sometimes – most of the time – putting yourself out there is worth it. Trying new things is worth it. Meeting new people is worth it.

Why?

Because while the fall of life can be a bit of a doozy, having people around who love you will make the landing a little easier to handle, and they’ll make it a helluva lot easier to get back up when something or someone knocks you down.
